Leave to Hikkaduwa after breakfast. Your first stop over will be the Turtle Hatchery in Kosgoda. An unforgettable sight here is the tiny lively hatchlings. Rise early this morning for the unforgettable whale-watching excursion. Join an approx three hour cruise which departs from the Mirissa harbour, on the island’s south coast. After an early breakfast get set for an adventurous safari into the Uda Walawe National Park. This is THE place to see elephants in their natural habitat. Reports confirm there is a herd of about 500 elephants in this 30,820 hectares jungle. This is the home for numerous other animals and birds too.
Feeding times at the Elephant Transit Camp just adjoining the National Park is a wonderful experience not to be missed. Orphaned baby elephants ranging from one month old to two years are cared for by the Wild Life Department until they are ready to be set free once again into the Uda Walawe jungle.
